12 checks a B2B buyer runs before booking a demo. Rate each one Clear, Buried or Missing, and get a verdict on what to fix first.
For anyone who works on a B2B SaaS homepage: founders, marketing, product, design and growth teams.
A buyer doesn’t read your homepage. They scan it.
Their eyes jump between headings, buttons, numbers, logos and images. Paragraphs get skipped. If the scan shows them enough, they come back and read. If not, they close the tab. So every check asks one thing: would a buyer catch this in a scan?
Better still: ask someone who has never seen your product to do Pass 1.
| Clear | Buried | Missing | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it means | A buyer catches it in a scan. | It’s on the page, but a buyer has to read, hunt or click to find it. | The buyer can’t find an answer, even after reading the whole page. |
| Usually looks like | It stands out from what’s around it: a heading, a button, a short label, a big number, a logo, a real image. | It blends in with what’s around it: lost in text, crowded by other content, or tucked away out of sight. | The page never covers it at all. Or it covers it so vaguely that nothing is answered, such as “Contact us for pricing” with no range. |
| Quick test | You remembered it after Pass 1. | You found it in Pass 2. | You didn’t find it in Pass 2 either. |
Run this on your homepage, the page a buyer opens when they look you up. Not on ad landing pages.
The content is there, and the layout hides it.
Fix the hierarchy first. It’s cheaper than writing new content.
